Deputy Director

Markland leads FMA’s digital team. He specialises in leading and coaching teams to build digital content, products and services at scale. 

Markland joined FMA from the UK Government Digital Service, where he was head of content for GOV.UK and, more recently, deputy director. At GOV.UK, he played a key role in the coordination and delivery of guidance and services during two major events - COVID-19 pandemic and Brexit - both requiring new approaches to cross-government working in order to support citizens and businesses. His focus at GOV.UK has been to create a simple, joined-up and personalised experience of government for everyone.

With over 12 years of digital experience in UK public service, Markland has been heavily involved in user-centred design, product management and leadership roles to deliver standards and governance frameworks that help organisations meet their digital objectives.
