What do we want from the Civil Service?

Simone recently participated in the Policy Exchange event, What do we want from the Civil Service? During the event, Simone warned against a culture that rewards Civil Servants for ‘observing the status quo’ rather than risk-taking and finding a better way of doing things.  

As the UK Government’s industrial relations advisor from 2010-2015, Simone played a key role in the negotiations with the trade unions on reforms to public sector pensions and the Civil Service Compensation Scheme. She also helped to implement changes to the central functional leadership of Whitehall to ensure that departments could deliver further savings while reforming their services and programme.
