Maria Paz Astigarraga Baez
Regional Advisor for Latin America
Maria Paz is a Project Director in Paraguay. She leads FMA's main project in the region, focusing on spatial planning for forestry, carbon credits, and the development of a portfolio of green business and financing mechanisms to support sustainability trajectories for climate and nature in the country.
She also leads Business Development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Maria Paz has worked for one of FMA's main clients in Latin America on improving macro-processes which involved a complex merger of multiple Ministries partnered with the InterAmerican Development Bank.
Prior to joining FMA, Maria Paz worked as Priority Area Coordinator in the Presidential Delivery Unit of Paraguay. She also served as one of the four specialists of the Rapid Intervention Team for crisis management for the Presidency.
Maria Paz holds a Master’s of Public Policy from the University of Oxford [Chevening Scholarship] and an Executive degree in Government Performance from Harvard University. Maria Paz graduated from the Catholic University of Asuncion with a degree in Business Administration.
